    "

In this enchanting collection of poems, Diane uses some stanzas to make us laugh, a playful invitation to explore the extraordinary in the ordinary while other verses explore the essence of what it means to be alive, a journey of introspection. This books makes a great gift.

    "

I'm honored to write a review of "Off the Short Leash" by Diane Freed. Her debut volume of remarkable poems is an excellent read. Lovers of poetry will appreciate catching sight of their own reflection with these eloquent verses. The illustrations within are done by her own hand, and are reminiscent of The Saturday Evening Post covers by Norman Rockwell.

    "

I'm impressed with the cleverness of her rhymes and the riddling connections. Reminiscent of Emily Dickinson.

    THE STORY

    20240315_193648.jpg

As a youngster, Diane wrote stories from her imagination and illustrated them in crayon.  She called them "books" and still has some of them.

She went on to major in English in High School with the goal of becoming an author.

After attending a couple of year at Pikes Peak State College, she experienced motherhood while selling her art and started two businesses.

One being a pet-sitting business, which she still enjoys doing.

She loves spending quality time with her three grandchildren, reading poetry and creating art.

She has done several fundraisers for non-profit groups and donates art to animal rescues.
